The new product in question is ‘ The Ghost ‘ under ring which is a superb piece of equipment which comes from our partner company Guidosimplex and once installed you can hardly see it hence the name.

At the roadshow, which takes place on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of June in Peterborough, there will be the chance to test out this fantastic motoring equipment in one of our adapted cars. You will be able to see how simple and easy it is to use even though it uses top of the range technology.

Also at the event you will be able to discuss possible adaptations that could be fitted into your vehicle. Our helpful staff will go into clear detail of how our products work and how they will benefit the customers if they chose to get one installed.

Eight-year-old Katelyn Stewart, who has cerebral palsy and wears splints on her legs, had the frame stolen from outside her grandmother’s home.

The youngster was left unable to play with her friends, and mum Kelly, 28, said the whole family was devastated. But now, thanks to Elap Mobility, based in Accrington, Katelyn has a new frame even better than the one stolen.

Kelly, of Astbury Chase, said: “It is lovely. You can tell they have spent money on it. She hasn’t been too bad without her frame, although she did fall on her knees at school. But she is a lot better now she has got her frame again.”

“She hasn’t been able to get anywhere or play with her best friend. She was also being kept indoors at break times which made her upset.”

Kelly said she was delighted when told the frame would be replaced. She added: “I had never even heard of Elap at the time. We appreciate what they have done so much and Katelyn is really happy. They are going to put a seat on it so she can sit down when she needs a rest as well. The old one never had that, so she had to sit on the bars and it could have fallen over. It will make a lot of difference.”

Joanne Park, from Elap, said: “We saw the story in the Lancashire Telegraph and wanted to help. Katelyn said she wanted a pink one so we made her one, and it’s got little diamond-style bits in it. It took us about a week and a half. Accrington Autobodies sprayed it for free as well, as the owner’s daughter also has cerebral palsy.”

Paul Freedman is 87 years old & from Hornchurch in Essex. Having started running at the tender age of 61, he has since participated in the last 20 London Marathons! Now a 26 mile veteran, Paul takes as part in as many marathons as he can, even though he suffered a heart attack in 2003. He has so far raised over £50,000 for St Francis Hospice in Romford and has been made M.B.E for his efforts. Paul has recently been chosen to carry the torch in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

Paul was rightly chosen as a “hero” by a television program “You Deserve This House” which will be broadcasted on Channel 4 this year. Sent on a short break which he thought was his gift for all the hard work he had done, Paul was somewhat surprised to find that whilst away, his home had been renovated as part of the programme! Elap Mobility were proud to donate a rise and recline chair to Paul. Joanne Park, our Homecare Manager alongside Matt Walters, one of Elap’s engineers, had the honour of delivering the chair and were included in the programme. Paul was extremely happy with the chair and has since purchased a matching one from us.

Cherylee will eventually have a vehicle adapted by Elap mobility which will enable her to drive into the rear while seated in her wheelchair. She can then transfer internally to the drivers position having locked down her wheelchair automatically. She will have suitable adaptations fitted to help her drive and secure her additional items safely.

Elap will also assist in providing a new wheelchair this will need to meet all Cherylees requirements outside and inside her vehicle.

Cherylee plays the fictional character Isabelle ‘Izzy’ Armstrong in the UK soap Coronation Street. The character first appears on-screen on April 16, 2010; she is introduced as a new love interest for Kirk Sutherland. Soon after her arrival she gets a job at the Underworld factory. She is the soaps first disabled regular character in 50 years.
